As the anticipation builds for the 2023 NFL preseason, all eyes are on the Houston Texans and New England Patriots as they prepare to clash in their Week 1 preseason game at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
This marks only the second time these two teams have met in a preseason game, with their first encounter resulting in a close victory for the Texans back in 2017. The latest odds show the Texans as -3 point favorites, with the Over/Under set at 38.5 total points for the game.
The Texans enter this game with rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, named as the starter for the preseason opener. Head coach DeMeco Ryans will be looking for a strong performance from Stroud as he competes with Davis Mills for the starting job this season.
Houston also added star defensive end Will Anderson JR. through the draft, which should give a big boost to the team’s pass rush. These new additions are expected to have an impact on the team’s performance, but it remains to be seen how quickly they can adapt to the NFL level.
