[LIVESTREAM>>>>] Wanderers vs Pacific live watch 7 August 2023
Halifax has had a pretty good history on the civic holiday, winning their first ever Natal Day match 1-0 over Valour back in 2019, defeating Atlético Ottawa 2-1 in 2021 courtesy of a João Morelli brace, before losing 4-2 to York United last year. Holiday weekend or not, there has been a lot to celebrate of late at the Wanderers Grounds, where Halifax have now won five straight matches. No team has allowed fewer goals at home this season than the Wanderers, who have allowed more than a single goal against in a match at home just once this season.
A 3-0 loss to York United back on May 20 also represents the last time they dropped points at home. That is also their only loss in seven matches at the Wanderers Ground this season. Halifax took revenge for that loss last weekend, as they won their first match away from home this season 2-0 against York at York Lions Stadium.
After a difficult past month, having gone five matches without a win, they finished off July strong with a 3-0 victory against Valour FC last weekend at IG Field — looking much more like the dominant road side they did earlier in the year. Pacific have scored an impressive 16 goals in seven road matches this season and lead the league in goals per match away from home. On the injury front, Théo Collomb is recovering well from a clash of heads he suffered last week against York United, while Jake Ruby is available again for Halifax — with Gheisar mentioning how well the young defender played the last time they took on Pacific. On Pacific’s side, Djenairo Daniels remains on the sidelines but is doing well per Merriman, while there are a few other minor injuries that could see slight roster rotation ahead of Monday’s match.
The Wanderers’ recent home winning streak also included a 2-1 victory over their opponents on Monday, Pacific — the only time the Tridents have lost away from home this season. Building on that road record will be absolutely crucial to Pacific’s goal of winning a first-ever regular season title in club history.

The Brazilian also had two shot attempts, created two chances, and was named the Canadian Premier League’s Player of the Week. “I do feel that game against York João maybe skipped a step and went two steps forward, ” said Gheisar. “So we are looking for him to have an equal role again, maybe bring some energy off the bench, maybe start depending upon how we feel. ” How can Pacific get the best out of Ayman Sellouf? : As Pacific FC manager James Merriman tries to find his best starting eleven over the second half of the season, he faces a difficult decision: how to deploy his best player this year, Ayman Sellouf.

All CPL matches are available to stream on OneSoccer, or on TELUS Optik TV Channel 980. 3 THINGS TO WATCH Is João Morelli ‘back’? : In his longest appearance of the season to date, coming on in the 33rd minute after an injury to Théo Collomb, the 2021 Canadian Premier League Player of the Year showed why his return could be so critical to the Wanderers down the stretch this past weekend. Returning to the stadium where he scored his last goal back in early 2022, Morelli found the back of the net in a 2-0 win over York United at York Lions Stadium.
The 21-year-old winger has been used both as a starter and super sub this season, and it might end up being a case-by-case basis as to which role he will be given each week. The good news for Merriman is that Sellouf has been effective as both, scoring 2 goals and adding 3 assists as a substitute, while scoring 3 and assisting on 3 when starting matches.
