THE 2023 GALWAY RACES got under way on Monday in drizzly but delightful fashion...in more ways than one.

Despite the weather, stylish punters still flocked to the Ballybrit course as the six-day staple on the Irish horse racing calendar said giddy up.

Elsewhere, Teed up claimed the day's feature Connacht Hotel Handicap for trainer Emmet Mullins and jockey Raymond Barron.

What TV channel is showing the 2023 Galway Races and can I stream it?

As usual, RTE Two will be showing the bulk of the action over the opening four days with coverage beginning at 5 pm and running until 7:30 pm.

That means you also have the free streaming option offered by the RTE Player.

It's worth noting then that TG4 will be broadcasting the entirety of the Friday and Saturday slate with eight races on show each day.

In a similar vein to the RTE Player, that means fans can catch all of the action via the TG4 Player if away from their television.

In addition to all of that, organisers have confirmed Racing TV will cover and broadcast every one of the fifty-two races live from track.

Ticket sales and hospitality:

The Galway Races contributes over €54 Million to the local economy.

Advance ticket sales have proved very strong, pacing ahead of 2022 figures.

To celebrate the 2023 festival, Galway Races have a special offer on general admission tickets with €5 off each ticket up to the day of the race meeting.

There is also a new €70 three-day bundle ticket and a new flexi-ticket offer, all available to buy online via www.galwayraces.com.

Prize fund:

With fifty-three races over the seven days, the Galway Races Summer Festival has a prize fund of over €2.1 million on offer.

Each day offers a minimum prize fund of €100,000 for the feature race, with a minimum value for any race at Galway standing at €17,000.

Galway offers a mixed card for the week with national hunt and flat races being held on all seven days.
